No Landing Fees At Thailand’s Tertiary Airports

In a move aimed at increasing traffic Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation has created a one year waiver of landing fees for a number of tertiary airports in the country.

According to press reports in the Bangkok Post, the DCA has included airports in Hua Hin, Mae Sot, Chumphon, Tak, Ranong, Roi Et, Phrae, Pattani, Petchabun, Sariang, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Loei.

The government agency is viewing the strategy to cut mounting losses at the facilities and bring the operations into the black.

Over the years friction between the AoT and DCA has created a hierarchy over the two distinct agencies and efforts to privatize money loosing operations have failed to win approval.
