As many as 8,300 orders for new vehicles have been placed at the halfway point of the Thailand International Motor Expo, reflecting a return of consumer purchasing power as the Thai automobile market recovers from the economic downturn. Toyota has been the most popular brand, with 2,099 orders, followed by Honda with 1,661. Kwanchai Paphatphong, the organiser of the annual motor expo, earlier said he expected 15,000-17,000 orders to be placed during this year’s event.
