The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand will next week officially inform operators of 53 ongoing projects in Rayong’s Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate to stop construction. The planned communication follows Wednesday’s Supreme Administrative Court ruling that operating permits for 65 of an initial 76 projects in the area must remain suspended. Some 53 of the 65 suspended projects are located in the Map Ta Phut estate and are valued at a combined Bt240b. The other 12 projects are outside the estate, said Prasan Tanprasert, chairman of the IEAT executive board. Of the 53 projects,41 are under development, five have completed construction and four have just purchased land, he said.
