The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) expects to announce terms next month for the long-awaited auctions for third-generation (3G) mobile phone service licences. Gen Choochart Promprasit, the NTC chairman, said the auction for 3G licences on the 2.1GHz spectrum should happen this year, allowing the regulator to issue licences in early 2010. (Bangkok Post)
