Chief executives at Market for Alternative Investment-listed firms have called on the Finance Ministry to extend favourable corporate tax rates indefinitely. The MAI CEO Club has submitted a letter to the ministry asking it to maintain the current 20% corporate tax rate indefinitely, or at least for another five years, said Sombat Anuntarumporn,president and managing director of Interlink Communication.

The Association of Securities Companies (ASCO) and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) are seeking remedial measures to assist stock traders, who are facing a 25-per-cent cut in so-called “extra commissions” earned on stock trades. Acknowledging that the looming cut was creating problems for the association’s members, a source at ASCO said the issue would be taken up at a meeting this week. (The Nation)

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) together with SCB Securities Co., Ltd. and Citicorp Securities (Thailand) Ltd. held the roadshow “Economic Recovery/Domestic play” in Singapore during October 27-28. The event exceeded expectations. Seventeen listed firms joining the roadshow received so much attention from 49 foreign institutional investors that additional group meetings had to be arranged. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index on Wednesday rose 2.82 points or 0.43 per cent to stay at 658.28 points. The market value was 24.00 billion baht, with 5.99 billion shares traded. The SET100 index ended at 1,010.89 points, up 3.94 points or 0.39 per cent, with a total trade value of 20.60 billion baht.The SET50 index increased 1.14 points or 0.24 per cent to stand at 470.80 points, with a total turnover of 15.37 billion baht. The Market for Alternative Investment (mai) index edged up 0.48 point or 0.27 per cent to close at 180.30 points, with a total transaction value of 270.60 million baht.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) amended listing requirements for foreign issuers to reduce listing obstacles and enhance the Thai capital market competitiveness by providing more products for investors. In other actions, SET Board of Governors (BoG) approved investing in venture capital funds through SET investment process in lieu of the mai Matching Fund Co., Ltd. and designated Mr. Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya as SET’s nominee as TSFC Securities PCL Director.
